Spend a Fun Day at the Eureka Springs Historical Museum

When visiting Eureka Springs, find your way over to 99 South Main Street and have a fun day at the Eureka Springs Historical Museum.  The museum is located in the 1889 Calif building of the Eureka Springs historic district and filled with exhibits and art that tell the story of how this town came to be.  The mission of the Eureka Springs Historical Museum is to preserve and protect Arkansas history through the history of the town and its people, which continues to attract thousands of visitors each year.  The Historical Museum is a non-profit institute with income coming from admissions, donations, membership fees, gift shop sales, and research fees.

What’s on Exhibit at the Eureka Springs Historical Museum

Permanent and rotating exhibits can be explored at your own pace on your visit to the museum.  Our Native American History, Eureka Springs: The City that Water Built, Fires-The Big Ones and Travel and Tourism are just a few of the permanent exhibits found at the museum.  The 2nd floor of the museum holds the art gallery and exhibits on medicine, Crescent College, and other schools.  The art gallery hosts a variety of one-of-a-kind pieces including photographs, pottery, sculptures, and jewelry.

The Eureka Springs Historical Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm and then from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sundays.  Admission is $5.00 for adults, $2.50 for college students and free for children through grade 12.  Be sure to visit the museum’s Heritage Garden and gift shop which are also on-site which sells books, souvenirs, postcards, and jewelry.  The artwork and books found in the gift shop are created by local Arkansas artists living in Eureka Springs.

Special events put on by the museum each year includes the Snow Village and Train exhibit in December and the popular Voices from Eureka’s Silent City in October.  Voices from Eureka’s Silent City is not only a great way to learn about the people of Eureka Springs but also gets you ready for the fall season and Halloween.  The one-hour walking tours begin in the cemetery and depart every 20 minutes thereafter.  Costumed guides tell the tales of Eureka Springs citizens and their lives from the past.  Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 12 and under.  This year’s event will take place on October 15th, 16th, 17th, 30th, and 31st.
