Eureka Springs Shopping: It’s Almost Holiday Time!

The holidays are quickly approaching which means it’s time to start checking off that holiday shopping list.  The town of Eureka Springs is home to over 50 shops and galleries to help you buy for each and every person on your list, and there’s something for everyone.  The stores are very diverse in their offerings.  From one of a kind art pieces made from local Eureka Springs artists, to clothing, handmade jewelry and home décor, this town has it all.  Eureka Springs shopping in the downtown area is enjoyable as the stores are set in Victorian buildings and its fun to window shop as the front window displays are always changing.

Named as one of America’s Top Small Art Towns, Eureka Springs is home to over 400 working artists.  The Historic District is lined with dozens of unique art galleries with handmade, original pieces.  Zarks Gallery is a fine craft and art gallery located at 67 Spring Street.  The gallery represents 125 local, regional and national artists.  Zarks Gallery is home to the finest collection of American art glass in the Midwest.  Other items featured in the store are hand blown glass, sculptures and fine jewelry.  Just a few stores down, is the 2-story Quicksilver Art and Fine Craft Gallery.  Quicksilver has a wide variety of artist’s pieces from jewelry to pottery and ceramics and art glass.  This gallery is also home to a hands-on musical exhibit on the lower level.  From April to December on the 2nd Saturday of each month, the 2nd Saturday Gallery Stroll makes its way to the Historic District.  These events make shopping the galleries a fun experience as they open their doors to guests from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and provide refreshments and wine.

In an old cottage on East Van Buren Street, you will find Something Simple, a store specializing in items in shades of cream, gray, black, white and tan.  Body products, soy candles, designer jewelry and home décor fill this beautiful store and make it a great spot to stop in for a gift.  Another unique store to check out is Mountain Eclectic at Gadd Spring.  The only store in Eureka Springs with a flowing spring right inside, this charming store is home to garden décor, home furnishings, wine racks and antiques.  This is a great store to visit because it is built around Gadd Spring and a glassed in cave and visitors can explore the underground grotto.

For that foodie on your shopping list, be sure to check out Gourmet Eureka on Center Street.  This store offers a variety of food items from around the world as well as items made right in Eureka Springs.  From fresh roasted coffee to grain mixes from The War Eagle Mill, there are wonderful gift items to be found.  Kitchenware, seasonal gifts and cookbooks can also be purchased.  Another store not to be missed is the Quilt Shop.  The Quilt Shop can be found right on Center Street at the base of the Flatiron building.  This staple store to the town of Eureka Springs sells original Amish, Mennonite and Ozark quilts plus a large assortment of handmade specialty items for the home.

After a long day of strolling the streets and shopping, be sure to put up your feet at one of Eureka Springs romantic bed and breakfast inns.  Arsenic and Old Lace bed and breakfast is located just two short blocks from the Historic District.  Tucked away in the Ozark hills, this relaxing Victorian mansion is the epitome of rest and relaxation.  With five private guest suites and a beautiful wrap around porch, there is no shortage of places to enjoy a glass of wine or coffee and unwind.  On your next visit to Eureka Springs, be sure to stop in and say hello.
