Once Thanksgiving is over, the holiday company has come and gone, now what?  A winter getaway to the small town of Eureka Springs might just be what you need.  The winter season in Eureka Springs is the perfect time to de-stress after the first round of holidays and get in the merry spirit of the upcoming December events.  The streets are a bit quieter around this time of year but the things to do in Eureka Springs Arkansas in December are sure to fill up your calendar.

December 7th, the Eureka Springs Preservation Society celebrates its 31st Annual Eureka Springs Christmas Tour of Homes.  This self-guided tour will include nine locations all elaborately decorated for the season.  Guests will enjoy festive decorations and music, songs from carolers and holiday refreshments.  Men and women at each location will be dressed in their finest ready to greet and welcome each guest.

Local charities come together on December 7th for the Christmas Forest tree lighting ceremony at the Crescent Hotel.  Over 30 trees decorate the hotel’s East Lawn and stay on display through January 3rd.  The community places votes for their favorite decorated tree with all money going to local charities.  The top three will receive an additional amount from the Crescent Hotel and Basin Park Family.  This event begins at 6:00pm.

Santa Claus makes his way to the Crescent Hotel on December 8th to celebrate the 14th Annual Santa’s Brunch.  Perfect for all ages, families are encouraged to spend a morning enjoying Santa’s company and enjoy a brunch menu fit for even the jolly old elf himself.  Santa even gives guests the opportunity to sit on his lap and tell him if you have been naughty or nice.  Be sure to make your way to this family event, December 8th from 10:00am to 2:00pm.  Cost is $24.95 per person.

Back to Eureka Springs this season is the 7th Annual Sweet Treats Tour.  Nine Bed and Breakfast Inns participate in this holiday tradition.  Once featured in Taste of the South Magazine, each Inn samples their favorite cookie and candy recipes.  Guests can visit each Bed and Breakfast at their leisure and collect recipes and delight in the beauty of the holiday decorations at each location.  Tickets are limited and are $20 per person.  This event will be held on December 14th from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.  Grab a map and ride the trolley to each location for this relaxed and delicious way to get in the holiday spirit.

Also on December 14th, don’t miss Santa in the Park.  Make your way to Basin Spring Park to visit with Santa Claus.  Each child will have the opportunity to visit with Santa and receive a small gift.  While you are downtown, be sure to check out the beautifully decorated streets and stop in the many galleries to get a head start on all of your holiday shopping.

Arsenic Old Lace Bed and Breakfast is running some great winter specials for your getaway.  The Eureka Springs Holiday Experience will relax your body and mind.  Start your stay with sparkling cider or champagne awaiting your arrival, couple’s massage, dessert for two and a stay in one of the five luxurious guest rooms complete with personal fireplace for curling up on those cold winter evenings.  Be sure to mention the Holiday experience when booking your reservation, now through December 31st.
