Express Yourself With Art Classes in Eureka Springs

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Ok…I think that I have just gone to heaven, but actually I just own Arsenic and Old Lace Bed & Breakfast in Eureka Springs!  Did you know that for the past two years, American Style magazine has named Eureka Springs as a “Top Twenty-five Arts Destination”?  Also the town has always been described in every edition of Jim Villani’s book, The 100 Best Small Art Towns in America.

There is so much to say, but this one location says it all for guests wanting to express themselves with art in Eureka Springs.  With over two hundred working artists currently calling this lovely area home, it makes it easy for visitors to learn more about art.  The Eureka Springs School of Arts is the place to learn.  They offer a busy class schedule which includes both three and five day classes.  They seem to cover every aspect of art including clay, fiber art, glass, metals, wood and stone, and two dimensional art.

Check out their class schedule, reserve a room, and express yourself today!

Pets are Welcome in Eureka Springs

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

alex-and-mandyWe are not spoiled…just overly loved!  This is exactly what my Mom and Dad do to all of their guests at Arsenic and Old Lace, including the guests’ pets.  Once upon a time, we were owned by a backyard breeder in Florida.  I am Alex a seven year old male and Mandy is only four and is my “bff”, best friend forever.  We were rescued and had a foster mom in Virginia that took care of us.  About two years ago, we were adopted and moved into the Arsenic and Old Lace Bed & Breakfast.  Needless to say, we have never been happier!

We just love the Inn, and would like to encourage you to bring your dog with you when you visit!  We have certain rules for dogs, but just let Mom and Dad know when you make your reservation that you would like to bring your best friend along. They will go over all of the particulars and make sure that both you and your dog have a very special visit.  Rooms that accommodate these visits are the Library Room and Patio Suite.

We look forward to your visit!

Wind Chimes are Bigger in Eureka Springs!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Eureka Springs has long been a haven for artists.  In 2005 one of those artists gave the town a new claim to fame.  Wind chime artist, Ranaga Farbiarz, erected the “World’s Largest Tuned Musical Wind Chime” in honor of his late father Ignatz Farbiarz, a survivor of the Holocaust.  It is located in the parking area of Celestial Windz Harmonic Bizaar, just south of Eureka Springs, and was erected with the help of a bucket truck and a 100-foot-tall oak tree. Its dimensions are 8 feet tall by 6 feet across.  As the centerpiece of the Harmonic Bizaar, it is available for free public viewing and hearing during regular gallery hours.  The chime was listed in the 2006 Guinnes Book of Records.  Definitely not to be missed!

After viewing these chimes, you will be ready to take some home with you!
